Need help?
Answers to common questions about the Docket Go app. Everything below refers to the iPhone app — for the Docket Drive USB device, see the device help page.
Getting started
What is Docket Go?
Docket Go is an offline-first AI assistant. AI models run directly on your iPhone — chat, search your files, read saved Wikipedia articles, and use offline maps with no internet connection and no account. Your content stays on your device, encrypted.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only for downloads: AI models, knowledge packs, Wikipedia articles, and map regions are fetched once over the internet. After that, chatting, searching, and browsing everything you downloaded works fully offline.
Which model should I pick during setup?
Lite is free, fast, and great for everyday questions. Medium and Heavy (Docket Unlimited) trade speed for deeper, more capable answers. You can add or switch models any time from the Models page, and Apple Intelligence is built in on supported devices with no download at all.
AI models & chat
The model feels slow or my phone gets warm
Larger models work your phone's GPU hard. Try the Lite tier for quick answers, close other heavy apps, and avoid chatting while big downloads are running. Newer iPhones with more memory run the Medium and Heavy tiers noticeably faster.
What are cloud models?
Optional and off by default. If you have your own OpenRouter API key, you can connect it to chat with hosted models like GPT and Claude. Before connecting, the app shows exactly what data would leave your device and asks for your explicit agreement — nothing is ever sent to the cloud while you use local models. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Can the AI use my documents in its answers?
Yes. Files you import and articles you save are indexed on your device, and you can attach them to a chat so the model answers from their contents. The indexing and the answering both happen locally.
Files, library & maps
My files or packs aren't showing up in search
New content is indexed ("embedded") on-device before it becomes searchable. Keep the app open in the foreground while the indexing indicator is running — it pauses when the app is in the background and resumes when you return.
A download stopped or failed
Downloads resume automatically — check your connection and reopen the app, and the queue picks up where it left off. You can watch progress under Settings → Activity.
How do offline maps work?
Download a region around your location and it's stored on your phone — pan, zoom, and find yourself with GPS even in airplane mode. GPS works without any internet connection.
How do I free up storage?
Settings → Storage shows what models, packs, articles, and map regions are using. Delete anything you don't need — you can always download it again later.
Subscription & purchases
What's free and what needs Docket Unlimited?
The free tier is genuinely usable: chat with the Lite model or Apple Intelligence, save up to 50 Wikipedia articles, import up to 25 files, install 2 of the built-in packs, and download one nearby map region. Docket Unlimited removes the limits and unlocks the larger models, chatting with your files, and unlimited maps and library content.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Docket Unlimited to change or cancel. Monthly and yearly plans include a free trial; the lifetime purchase is one-time.
I subscribed but the app still shows me as free
Open the upgrade screen in the app and tap Restore — this re-checks your purchase with Apple. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you purchased with.
Privacy & security
Where is my data stored?
On your device, encrypted at rest. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads, and we can't see your chats or files. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
I can't unlock the app with Face ID
Face ID unlock uses your device's own security. Check that Face ID is enabled for Docket Go under iPhone Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Other Apps, then try again.
